5 Totally Fun Ways To Celebrate New Year’s Eve At Home This Year

This year, staying in > going out

Staying in to ring in the New Year? That doesn’t mean your New Year’s Eve plans have to be boring! There are so many fun and creative ways to mark the end of 2021 at home. We’re sharing 5 things you can do at home to welcome 2022.

MAKE ALL YOUR FAVOURITE COMFORT FOODS

New Year’s Eve is synonymous with indulgence, and it’s not a party without all of your favourite foods. Why not kick off the new year with a menu of delicious comfort foods. Part of the fun is settling on a menu, spending the afternoon together preparing and of course enjoying the fruits of your labour. If you’re gathering with family, make it a potluck! Ask guests to bring their go-to comfort food and add to the feast. What are some of our favourites? A pot of chili, nachos, charcuterie and don’t forget the sweets!

MARATHON THE TOP MOVIES OF THE YEAR

Extreme cold warning mean cozying up on the couch and binging all of 2021’s TOP movies or Netflix series. What have we been watching? Selling Sunset (obviously), The World’s most Amazing Vacation Rentals, White Lotus and Squid Game. Even if you’re normally in bed by 9 p.m. bedtimes get extended on New Year’s Eve, right?  Before the clock strikes midnight, pop on a movie and ring in the new year relaxing in bed with a bowl of popcorn.

AN EVENING OF WINE TASTING

Sipping on some of your favourite wine is a great way to get the at home party started! Home alone? Put together a simple charcuterie with an array of different cured meats, cheeses, nuts and dried fruit. Having an intimate gathering? Ask your guests to bring one or two wines that they’ve been loving or dying to try. Cheers to a new year and enjoy reflecting on some of 2021’s most precious memories.

SHARE YOUR INTENTIONS WITH FRIENDS

New Year new goals! We love the start of the new year because that means a clean slate. While intention-setting can be a solitary activity, why not make it more of a supportive and motivating activity to share friends and family? This can be as simplistic or creative as you want. Perhaps it’s a vision board, who doesn’t love crafting? Or maybe it’s a list of personal, professional, long terms and short term goals (you know, SMART goals). What ever your preference, now is a great time to reflect on what you want to bring into your life in 2022.

AN EVENING OF KARAOKE

OK OK we want to know, what’s your go to Karaoke song? Ours is Dancing Queen. Not a singer? Doesn’t matter. Belting out your favourite songs from 2021 is a fun way to reflect on the year. Plus, it’s guaranteed to be a good time. Wanna take this musical event up a notch? You can host a mini awards ceremony at the end for Best Voice, Most Heart, Greatest Impersonation, and so on.
